The updates to Kentlands Market Square include facade renovations, new signage, site improvements and the creation of a paseo. The new design, architecture, and layout will promote a lifestyle shopping, entertainment and dining experience, featuring Maryland's first Cinepolis Luxury Cinema, set to open in 2019. The center's updated facades will feature more natural materials such as wood, stone, and brick, with metal and steel accents to provide a more modern design while maintaining the feel of individual storefronts. The paseo will convert an approximately 23,000 square foot retail space into smaller, more appropriately-scaled retail spaces ranging from approximately 1,300 square feet to 6,500 square feet. The paseo's width will accommodate ample outdoor dining opportunities and a pedestrian passage between Market Street and the larger parking lot to the east, and its design will feature the use of different pavers to promote pedestrian flow and define outdoor dining. In addition, there will be gathering and lounging spaces and festoon lighting strung to enhance the experience, define a sense of place and keep the area well lit and energized.
